Xanamech - Raid tactics

This is for access to the PoI factory (to kill the Manetic Behemoth) - only one person needs this key to open the door.  It is not required for progression.

Tanking…

Warrior engages with Furious disc enabled (12 seconds - no damage taken, auto riposte).

During this time:

  • Rampage tank also engages (SK)
  • Chanters tash
  • Shammys slow (disease based slow) When Furious drops, Warrior uses defensive disc for the remainder of the fight.

Positioning…

  • Warrior: Between mob and rear wall.
  • RT / Slower / Tasher: Initially with rest of raid force, but move to next to mob when warrior engages.
  • Rest: At the inlet to the right of the door. (RT / Slower / Tasher move into position after the mob engages to avoid agro ping pong while tashing and slowing)

Healing…

On pull, the MT should already have a Heal over Time on him and patch healers will be covering the MT’s HP until the heal chain kicks in. The heal chain will be comprised of all clerics on the shortest delay possible (5 clerics = 2/3 second delay?).

All groups should have a secondary healer (Druid or Shammy) to cover DoT damages. If not, then group leaders will be responsible for shouting for heals in raid chat. Patch healers can then use the raid window and /tgb to heal the group. Should the MT die and we have to change tanks, then clerics must adjust their heal chain appropriately.

ALL clerics will be expected to be able to do this without being told. Same goes for patch healers - cover the HP of the new MT until the heal chain kicks in.

Melees…

Melees will wait with casters at the right hand side inlet until the MT calls for assist.

Then they will engage at the rear of the mob. Xanamech casts a frequent AE stun in its front arc, so being at the back of the mob avoids this.

Casters (nukers)…

Reports vary on when to begin nuking - anywhere from 80 to 60% hp.

I would be tempted to start at 90%, but that’s me!

So, we will start nuking at 80% to be on the safe side.

Pet Classes…

As the mob procs an AE as soon as he pops, any pet classes without Pet Hold AA will kill us all! The pets will agro - the mob will turn and face all the casters (read: healers) and stun them - everyone dies. If you do not have pet hold AA, then kill your pet before we go in and recast when the MT calls for melee assist. All pets should engage with melees, when the MT calls for assist.

Bards…

Highest level bard on AE resists. Other does AE regen. (assuming we have 2 bards there! ). Other songs at the discretion of the bards, based on the makeup of their groups (possibly with a bard in MT group to add DS / haste / um…nice dancing…)

Resists…

his initial 800 damage AE is large range and is -300 fire resist check, from most reports he only casts this one once when he spawns second AE is 300 damage +stun and it is a -200 Magic resist check this one is the AE he casts kinda like a bolt spell it only effects those in front of him or in very close melee range and 3rd AE is just a plain snare (65%) and is unresistable large range on this one too

Fire resists - 300+

Magic resists - 200+

Easily doable with bard songs + raid buffs. If not, then get some resist gear. Remember, it’s OK to sacrifice other stats for resists - all the mana / agi / str / sta / int / wis / etc in the world wont help if you get eaten by the AE. The less you need healed, the more mana the healers have to keep the tanks alive.

The gnome…

We will have one group CC the gnome travelling to the named (inc, chanter to CC and melee / healer to offtank). The rest will move ahead (but not too far) to clear. Killing the named at the end is one part of the battle, but moving to target quickly and efficiently is an important part of raiding.

AEs…

The gnome agro’d us last time - I suspect someone let off an AE. So everyone make damn sure you have no AE’s going off that will agro the gnome. Check and double check:

  • Weapon procs
  • Spells
  • AAs
  • Bard songs
  • Your target when you engage!!

Eand

(Old strat btw - written in 2004 - this mob is easily soloable / 1 groupable with current standards of gear)
